## What it is

PureWeather is a focused U.S. weather application. It shows current
conditions, hourly forecasts, daily and 10-day forecasts, alerts, and
precipitation outlooks for any U.S. location. It runs in any modern
browser and installs as a Progressive Web App on iOS, Android,
Windows, macOS, and Linux. Native iOS and Android builds (via
Capacitor) are planned. Free to use.

## Data sources

- National Weather Service (NWS) — the U.S. government's official
  forecast service, accessed via api.weather.gov. PureWeather uses NWS
  for U.S. forecasts, alerts, and observations.
- Open-Meteo — an open-data weather API at api.open-meteo.com.
  PureWeather uses Open-Meteo for hourly precipitation, supplementary
  parameters, and model ensembles.

Both sources are publicly funded, ad-free, and freely available.

## Principles

- No advertising. Not anywhere. Not ever.
- No third-party trackers, ad SDKs, or behavioral analytics.
- No location data sold to or shared with brokers.
- No push notifications you did not explicitly request.
- No upsells or premium tiers — the app is free and stays free.

## How to use it

Open https://pureweather.net in any modern browser. On iOS, tap the
Share button and "Add to Home Screen" for an app-like experience. On
Android, the browser will offer to install the PWA automatically.
No account is required.
